About the Academy

Louis Melanson completed his Bachelor degree in Physical Education from the University of Moncton. He has been teaching golf for the past 9 years and is a Class A member of the Canadian PGA. Louis also works for the Canadian PGA as a TCCP facilitator. His education, his simplistic teaching and coaching style has rewarded him in being chosen as one of 12 RCGA Regional Coaches in Canada by the Royal Canadian Golf Association (2002 - 2005). He was also rewarded for his dedication and hard work by being named the Canadian PGA Atlantic Teacher of Year in 2002, 2004 & 2005.

Louis is also a member of the NB Junior Committee who oversees the NB Junior Golf Program. One of his High Performance players, Marc Bourgeois, who he has been coaching for the past 5 years, has accumulated an impressive resume with an 11th place finish at the 2003 World Junior Championship in Japan. A 3rd place at the 2003 Canadian Junior Championship. Two times Provincial and Atlantic Champion (see more on player profiles). Marc is now attending Kent State University in Ohio, USA on a golf scholarship.

Louis is also an avid supplier to the Atlantic Golf Digest with his golf tips and was also a contributor for the Golf Canada Magazine in December 2003. In addition, Louis Melanson was a member of the University of Moncton Blue Eagles hockey team who won the Canadian University Championship in 1990.

Most recently, Louis was a caddy at the 2004 Bell Canadian open for long time student Marc Bourgeois.
